A warm welcome – view my portfolio, blog and library

Thank you for visiting my virtual study. It is a place where I have gathered some of my writing, interests and concerns. You can read some of my reflections on matters that have shaped and challenged my journey.

Over the past four decades I have been intrigued by what shapes our wellbeing. I believe that theology in its many voices can enable us to understand our human condition. As we pay attention to one another we can understand what shapes and challenges human wellbeing. I am a teacher and writer of pastoral and practical theology.

As the pandemic began I trained as a Pastoral Supervisor and am passionate about this work. It is a privilege to work with a range of individuals as they explore their work in a variety of places and communities.

The one strand that has thread itself through my work in a variety of contexts is pastoral and practical theology.

This has been shaped by the diversity of contexts within which I have worked. These include pastoral work with people at various stages of their living and dying; age and older age ; health and social care ; ethics and values; organisational development; and theological education and formation for ministry.

These experiences have shaped my interests alongside the communities I have worked in. Do take a look at my CV.

When not at work I enjoy photography, music, modern art and music.

You can see more of these interests in each of the sections of this website. Get in touch if you want to know more.

I am presently Principal of Sarum College.

A piece of Romanesque Art that set me on my vocational path of formation for ministry

This carving of the vision of St Helen and her search for the True Cross was in the sanctuary of my Village Church in County Durham. See this blog entry for more information

As a very young boy I was captivated by it. I was curious to know what it was that inspired Helena on her pilgrimage to search for the true Cross. My faith was nurtured by worship in this place, the Book of Common Prayer, reading the King James Bible in worship and learning how to pray.

It started my adventure into learning, theology and ministry. I remain proud of my mining roots in this Pit Village
